Find Your New Best Friend

Find Your Furry Companion at Melita's Dream Animal Rescue Animal Shelter

Meet Adam Lambert

He is a sweet, gentle soul who only wanted one thing—to live. He didn’t want to die alone in a shelter kennel at Contra Costa Animal Services. He just wanted a chance. We were able to pull this handsome boy at the very last minute. It was stressful, heartbreaking, and emotional—but Adam held on, and now he’s safe. Adam is about 2–2.5 years old, weighs around 60 lbs, and is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is a loving, affectionate boy who truly shines when he’s with his people. He enjoys the company of other dogs and would make a wonderful family dog. Adam is smart and eager to please. He just needs a little leash training, and with patience and love, he will learn quickly. What Adam needs most is a family—someone to show him that he is safe, wanted, and loved. This boy has been through so much, yet his heart is still pure and kind. He deserves a home where he will never again have to wonder if tomorrow will come. If you are interested in adopting, foster-to-adopt, or even fostering Adam, please contact the rescue. Saving Adam’s life was only the first step—now we need to help him find his forever home.

Meet Allen J –

Meet Allen J – Your New Best Friend! A Contra Costa Animal Services survivor. I’m a petite, handsome Pittie mix with a big heart and lots of love to give. I am vaccinated neutered, microchipped . I am about 2 yrs old and weigh about 47 lbs. I’m a very happy, healthy boy who truly enjoys life and the people (and pups!) around me. I play wonderfully with the other puppies in my playgroup and absolutely love my toys—I tend to put everything in my mouth, which makes my foster mom think I’m still a puppy at heart. I’m also very intelligent, listen well, and I’m highly trainable. I would thrive with professional training because I’m eager to learn and extremely motivated to please my humans. I can be a little shy at first, so I’m looking for a patient and loving forever human who can give me a safe space to build trust. Once I feel comfortable, I warm up quickly and become a loyal, affectionate companion. I’m respectful with other dogs. I’m also very curious about kitties! I have a medium energy level—I enjoy long walks, car rides, and playful activities, but I’m just as happy relaxing at home with my people. I’m not much of a barker unless I sense something unusual, which makes me a great little watchdog. I sleep soundly through the night and always wake up excited to see you and start the day together. You won’t regret adopting me—I’m ready to give unconditional love, loyalty, and lots of happy tail wags to my forever family. I can’t wait to meet you! Hugs & kisses, Allen J

Gracie & Leona - bonded pair

Meet Leona & Gracie – A Bonded Pair of Beautiful Siberian Husky Sisters Leona (tan with blue eyes) and Gracie (brown with blue eyes) both survivors of Contra Costa Animal Services are stunning Siberian Husky/Australian Kelpie sisters who are approximately 1½ years old. Each weighs between 35–40 pounds and is healthy, energetic, and full of personality. Both are vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.  These sweet girls are naturally shy around people indoors, but beneath their cautious nature are gentle, affectionate, and loving companions. They are curious, friendly, and non-aggressive with both dogs and cats. While they are good eaters, they prefer to dine privately and are most comfortable eating when people are not nearby. They are not particularly motivated by treats for training purposes, although they do have a few favorite treats they enjoy sharing together in the backyard, especially after a walk. Leona and Gracie are sensitive souls who startle easily with sudden movements or approaches. They take time to build trust, but once they feel safe with someone, they enjoy gentle affection and attention. They thrive with calm, patient people who respect their boundaries and allow them the space they need to feel secure. As a bonded pair, Leona and Gracie are happiest when together. Whether they're relaxing on their dog bed indoors, exploring their secure fenced yard, or heading out on an adventure, they find comfort and confidence in each other's company. Watching them play together is a joy—they are full of energy, husky antics, and sisterly fun. Daily walks are the highlight of their lives. The moment they realize it's time to go, they become animated, vocal, and excited. On walks, they truly shine. They walk well on leash, are easy to guide, and love exploring new sights, smells, routes, and environments. They are intelligent, curious dogs who thrive on outdoor stimulation and exercise. Regular daily walks are essential to their happiness and well-being. Because of their strong prey drive and independent husky nature, Leona and Gracie should not be considered off-leash dogs. At this time, neither reliably responds to voice recall or commands when distracted. Since entering foster care, both sisters have continued to make steady progress and gain confidence. They would do best in a quiet, calm home with a securely fenced yard and a family willing to provide patience, kindness, consistency, and understanding. In their foster home, they have a designated quiet space where they feel safe and can relax or nap when needed. A home with younger children would likely not be the best fit, as a busy household could increase their anxiety. Instead, they would flourish in a peaceful environment where they can continue building trust at their own pace. Leona and Gracie are truly special dogs. Their foster family adores their unique personalities, endless husky quirks, and the laughter they bring every day. They are inseparable sisters who are looking for a forever home willing to embrace them exactly as they are—a loving, devoted pair ready to share a lifetime of adventures together.     If you are interested in adopting or foster to adopt please contact the rescue
