Huxley

Meet Huxley – Looking for His Forever Home

Huxley is a 6-year-old Rottweiler mix who was rescued from Contra Costa Animal Services just minutes before he was scheduled to be euthanized. This handsome boy has been through more than any dog should. After his family's home was destroyed in a fire, they were forced to stay in a hotel that couldn't accommodate pets. Huxley was left in the backyard and was only fed once a day. Eventually, his family surrendered him to the shelter. Despite everything he has endured, Huxley remains a sweet, loving, and affectionate dog who simply wants to be loved. He weighs approximately 73 pounds and is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Huxley does well with people and can get along with other dogs with proper introductions. He would thrive in a loving, stable home with a family committed to giving him the care, security, and unconditional love he deserves for the rest of his life. If you are interested in adopting Huxley or fostering-to-adopt, please contact the rescue for more information.

Give Huxley the second chance he's been waiting for.

Luna

Meet Luna

Meet Luna – Our Sweet Love Bug! Meet Luna, a lovable Staffordshire Terrier mix and an absolute total love bug! Luna was rescued from Contra Costa Animal Services, where she was heartbreakingly placed on the euthanasia list. Despite everything she has been through, Luna’s beautiful spirit continues to shine. Luna is about 5–6 years old, weighs approximately 51 lbs, and is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. She has a few bumps on her head from previous mistreatment, but they certainly haven’t changed her loving heart. Luna is incredibly affectionate and absolutely adores people. She loves attention, belly rubs, and simply being close to her humans.  Luna is currently in training and being properly socialized with other dogs. She does well with dogs and wisely knows how to avoid troublemakers—she’s a peaceful, sweet, and well-mannered girl. Now Luna is patiently waiting for her special person—the person who will show her the kindness, love, and safety she has always deserved.  Adoption or foster-to-adopt available! If you’re interested in giving Luna the forever home she deserves, please contact Melita’s Dream Animal Rescue.  Luna is ready to give her whole heart to her forever family.

Matthew

Meet Matthew

Matthew is a 3-year-old Terrier mix with the sweetest soul. Rescued from Downey Shelter, this little boy has experienced more heartbreak than any dog his size ever should. At just 18 pounds, he's proof that the biggest hearts often come in the smallest packages. Despite his past, Matthew still chooses love. Every day, he is learning that not all people will let him down. He is slowly rebuilding his trust, and watching him open his heart is something truly special. Matthew is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. He is a smart, gentle, and incredibly loving dog who simply needs a family willing to be patient and let him know he is finally safe. Once he trusts you, he'll be your loyal shadow and faithful best friend. He gets along wonderfully with people, dogs, and cats, making him an easy addition to almost any home. One of his favorite things in the world is going for car rides. He'll happily sit beside you as the perfect co-pilot, soaking in every moment and turning heads everywhere he goes with his adorable face. Matthew isn't looking for perfection—he's looking for someone who will love him as family. Someone who understands that healing takes time and that the greatest bonds are built with patience, kindness, and unconditional love. His past does not define him. His future is still waiting to be written, and all that's missing is the person or family willing to give him the happy ending he deserves. If you have room in your heart and home for this incredible little survivor, please consider adopting Matthew—or fostering him with the intention to adopt. One decision could change his life forever. Matthew has already survived. Now he deserves the chance to truly live—and to know what it feels like to be loved every single day.
